This page explains what happens to information connected with this website and with the digital products sold under the Consulting Connection name. It is written to be read rather than skimmed, and it describes what actually happens rather than reserving every right a lawyer could think of.
What this website collects
This site is a set of static pages. It has no account system, no contact form, no comment section and no advertising network. It does not set cookies to identify you, and it does not build a profile of your visit.
Your browser sends the same basic request information every website receives — the page requested, a timestamp, your approximate location derived from your network address, and your browser type. The hosting provider processes this to serve pages and to block abuse. It is not used to identify you and it is not combined with anything else.
When you contact me
If you telephone or email, I keep what you send for as long as needed to answer you and to keep proper business records. Enquiries about tax preparation or notarial work become part of the client file if you go ahead. I do not add you to a mailing list because you contacted me, and I do not sell, rent, trade or share contact details with anyone for marketing.
When you buy a digital product
Purchases do not happen on this website. The buttons here link to Gumroad, which is the merchant of record. Gumroad collects your payment details and your email address, handles the transaction and delivers the file. Your card number never reaches me — I receive your name, your email address and a record of what you bought.
Gumroad's own privacy policy governs what it does with your information. Read it before you buy if that matters to you.
I use purchase records to deliver what you bought, to answer questions about it, to send a corrected file if I find an error, and to keep the accounting records a business is required to keep.
Documents you send me
Tax and notarial work involves sensitive documents. Those are handled under a separate written agreement and a written information security plan, through a secure channel I will set up with you — not by text message or ordinary email attachment. Records are retained for the period my professional obligations require and then destroyed securely.
Your choices
Virginia's Consumer Data Protection Act applies to businesses handling the personal data of at least 100,000 Virginians a year, or 25,000 where more than half of revenue comes from selling personal data. This is a one-person practice and it is nowhere near either threshold, so the Act does not apply to it.
That is a statement about the law, not about how I intend to behave. If you want to know what I hold about you, want it corrected, or want it deleted where I am not required to keep it, write to me and I will deal with it. You will not be asked to justify the request.
Children
Nothing here is directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
